Last year I only managed to read 18 books. Pretty poor going. They were:
Microserfs - Douglas Coupland
Magnetism and other stories - F. Scott Fitzgerald
Everything Is Miscellaneous
The Eternal Champion - Michael Moorcock
Phoenix in Obsidian - Michael Moorcock
The Sailor on the Seas of Fate - Michael Moorcock
Dying Inside - Robert Silverberg
Breakthrough - Richard Cowper
Brontomek! - Michael Coney
To Your Scattered Bodies Go - Philip Jose Farmer
Childhood's End - Arthur C. Clarke
400 Billion Stars - Paul J. McAuley
The Road - Cormac McCarthy
Tactics of Conquest - Barry Malzberg
Secret Harmonies - Paul J. McAuley
Inside Intel - Tim Jackson
Imperial Earth - Arthur C. Clarke
A Canticle for Leibowitz - Walter M. Miller Jr.
Of those, The Road was easily the best. I dread to think what a shambles the film will turn it into.
I've also updated my list of important books to include one or two I read last year, and some others I remembered. Plus I created a separate section for my favourite sf books.
This year I'm planning to read some sf classics. Here's the list I'm starting from (as I already have copies of all these):
A Case of Conscience - James Blish
Downward to the Earth - Robert Silverberg
Man Plus - Frederik Pohl
Venus Plus X - Theodore Sturgeon
Davy - Edgar Pangborn
The Space Merchants - Frederik Pohl & C.M. Kornbluth
The Diamond Age - Neal Stephenson
Blood Music - Greg Bear
Stand on Zanzibar - John Brunner
Time Out of Joint - Philip K. Dick
The Embedding - Ian Watson
The Fifth Head of Cerberus - Gene Wolfe
I Am Legend - Richard Matheson
On Wings of Song - Thomas M. Disch
Ringworld - Larry Niven
The Child Garden - Geoff Ryman
Let's see how I get on.

Great collection of books I was really surprised to see the collection of books read by you last year. Of course as you said "the road" is really the best one in which there is a great tale of fathers and his young son’s journey on the road. I have even gone through the books which you planned to read in the next year really great collection. Thanks for sharing list of books with us.
Ringworld
Did you ever get round to reading Ringworld? It's an awesome book.. Niven actually followed it up, with a return to the Ringworld, to fix all the physics he broke in the first book! ;)
Haven't got round to that
Haven't got round to that yet :) Will probably have a crack at The Man in the Maze next, or possibly some Barry Malzberg, or maybe even Sundiver!
Great lists of books.

Arthur C. Clarke rules
Arthur C. Clarke's books are definitely my favorite choice when it comes to a good read.
I must add that even though I respect electronic books, a real book is a totally different feeling. :)

A Case of Conscience, read this one first...great book i ever read

I read it. I quite enjoyed it, though I thought it was a bit difficult to follow the main philosophical argument: could have been communicated more clearly, I felt. And the tone of it was a little odd. Still, nice read.

As you reach adulthood, it's hard to find time to read ANYTHING. I think the amount you read is excellent. Remember, reading should be for your enjoyment...not a task.

books
Its can be very difficult to find the time to sit down with a good book, and even more difficult not to get distracted while reading. I try to put a side half an hour at the end of each day to focus on some reading.
Is it just me or does
Is it just me or does reading books seem old school. I'm not just talking about reading hard copy rather than online, but books in general. I've heard it's still one of the best ways to "exercise" you mind.
reading online more practice...
for me,
reading ebook online is my best choice.. :)
